Today was Monday, and it really acted like it. I doubt Mondays are honestly any worse than any other week day, but my defenses are down from the weekend and I'm generally peeved just to be back at work at all, so everything irritates me more. (I'm supposed to GET UP? SERIOUSLY? $%#&.) Despite the bad rap Mondays get, I never used to think they were any worse than the rest of the week, but I think I find it harder to get up than I used to. And it's hard to face the day with a good attitude when your first thought is, "OH DEAR GOD PLEASE NO." Also, my new pants, while fabulously slimming, are about 5% wool and a bit itchy. I have pink welts all over my thighs from scratching all day. On the upside, I was dressed up a bit more than sometimes and therefore got to prance around the office all day thinking, "Yay, I look sharp." Which is nice (if creepy staring coworker boy stays tucked firmly away in his office), but doesn't quite make up for Monday hideousness. And I did end up going to dinner with Kathleen and Noah, which was serious good times, but the day was pretty hard to save at that point.
I am of course very grateful to have a job at all right now, but gratefulness has no place in a good bitchfest.
Your fish monster didn't make the day better?
ReplyDeleteI'll have Noah make you lots MORE fish monsters. One for every Monday.
Love,
Kathleen
There are two things you should know:
ReplyDelete1. I'm sorry for my part in the getting up process. I am a necessary evil. :(
2. My comment this morning about you looking extremely nice yesterday came BEFORE I read this post. Mission of snazzitude accomplished!
Kathleen, the fish monster made my day SO much better. I... I just had still spent my whole day before that being grumpy and irritable and itchy, and... it was just a Monday up until then.
ReplyDeleteKasey, 1) you have no idea how grateful I am that you call me every morning. I feel like there's hope for me being a normal functioning member of society someday. ;) 2) Purrrrrrrrrrrrr. And thanks!
Aw, I hope your Tuesday got better. And no, I haven't stopped watching TNG; in fact, I just finished The Big Goodbye. Eeeeeeee. I really enjoyed that one. Next disc will probably arrive tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYaaaaayyyy!!! Yeah, I liked the Big Goodbye -- 40s Captain Picard can show me his office any day.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, my Tuesday was better, thanks. By Tuesday I've generally resigned myself to the fact that I have to work for a living again.
