I can see titles are going to be a challenge

Day 3 and I'm already regretting my decision to blog every day. I'd much rather be curled up on the couch reading, but my roommate has the tv on anyway, so I guess I'll behave.

Aww, my friend Tom and his fiancé Lori got married tonight, and it was a lovely wedding. It was a traditional Dutch West Michigan wedding, meaning it featured stiff classical music, long prayers, a subdued atmosphere, and lots of old people, but the reception did have alcohol. Daring! It also had a live band, which was something I'd never considered before, but liked a lot. Also, both Tom and Lori are unusually great people and everyone was very happy to see them together, so it was a very happy wedding. And I'm very, very full.

Speaking of weddings, the title of my blog comes from a conversation my friends Kasey and Vicky and I had at work the other day, which boiled down to two conclusions: 1) Vicky's much more normal than either Kasey or I, and 2) I want pie at my wedding reception instead of cake. Especially if I have a fall wedding. Wouldn't that be awesome, seriously, a plethora of pies to choose from instead of cake? I am definitely a fan of this plan. You can put that in writing.

Mmm. Pie.

  1. Someone else is choosing pie for their wedding! Awesome! I am not alone!

  2. If I hide a piece of cake in my purse and bring it to the reception, will you be offended?

I support you in your love of pie. I just don't like eating pie crust.

  3. Pie is delicious. And really, Holly, you've never been to a wedding with a live band? They're pretty fun. Of course, I have been to eighty gazbillion weddings. I rank them all. A wedding with pie would be really high on the list, I must admit.

  4. I was thinking I might have a small cake there as well, for you non-pie-enthusiasts, Michele. Or you can just leave your crust on the plate - I won't be offended.

Also, I learned recently how to make The Best Damn Pie Crust Ever. It's seriously so amazingly good and moist and flaky -- I ate the whole thing, and I always leave the crust if I think I can get away with it.

Nope, no live band before this one. I liked it a lot better than I expected -- less brass. :)
